Owning or renting one’s own home is a critical part of independence.
Spurwink Realty Development Company’s Willow Street Supportive Housing at 99 Willow Street in Providence fulfills that need for twenty (20) individuals with disabilities.Spurwink Realty Development Company’s mission is to ensure that decent, safe, accessible, and affordable housing units are available for low-income disabled people. The Section 811 Program of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides housing assistance for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities and/or mental illness,who are 18 years of age or older. Their incomes must be at or below 50% of the median incomein Rhode Island. Through project rental assistance, tenants pay 30% of their adjusted gross income for rent.
Spurwink Realty Development Company’s housing is affordable for those who meet HUD’s criteria. In addition, a support component is provided by spurwink|ri to assist with the activities of daily living. Spurwink Realty Development Company has twelve (12) units currently rented. Ten (10) units are in development with twenty-eight more units projected over the next five (5) years.
